Multiple Teams · JV Volleyball Defeats Western


The Northwest JV Volleyball team finished their season tonight at home where they hosted league rival Western.  Western would take the first set 25-18.  Northwest raised their level and rose to the challenge – they played the best volleyball of their season as they outlasted Western 25-12 and 15-7 to claim victory.  The team recorded 26 kills (Cassie Jakubas 7, Meg Swartz 6, Anya Hedrich 5); 19 assists (Morgan Hanchett 12), 1 ace (Olivia Olmsted), 7 blocks (Cassie 3, Anya 2), and 24 digs (Bree Burman 8, Meg Swartz 6, Olivia Olmsted 5).  The Mounties finish their wonderful season with a record of 27-6-3.  Thank you to all who came out and supported their efforts this season!

Mounties News · 7th B Volleyball Defeats Hastings


The 7th Grade B Volleyball team ended their season last night with a three game sweep against Hastings. Highlights included a serving debut by Taylor Reul, as well as other solid serving performances by Maddie Gerding, Lynaya Burkart, Stacia Hedrich, Kate Beebe, McKenna Duncan, Emma Hutchins and Emily Wendt. Kristen Sallee, Emily Wendt and Stacia Hedrich led the defense. The team ended their season 8-2 in league play, and were runners up in the Marshall Tournament! Congratulations on a great season!

Mounties News · 8th Grade Volleyball Sweeps Hastings


The 8th grade A volleyball team ended their season with a win against Hastings. Game scores were 25-9, 25-22, and 15-5. Peach Kennedy scored 9 points with 4 aces. Olivia Lamb, Bianca Bush, Kenzie Rowley, and Chloe Hinkley each scored 7 points at the service line and Rowley had a team high 5 aces. Lamb had a strong night in the middle with a team high seven kills. Abbie Sczykutowicz and Leah Alfred each chipped in four hits. Chloe Cooper, Piper Darrow and Bush combined for 16 digs in the back row. For the season we finished with a record of 8-8-2. Good season girls

The 8th Grade B Volleyball team finished their season with winning all 3 games against Hastings by the scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 15-11. Khrystine Weesner led our servers going 17 for 19. Aspen Tapley served 9 for 13 and Savannah Anderson had 2 kills. Great season girls

Multiple Teams · JV Volleyball Loses to Marshall


The Northwest JV Volleyball team hosted Marshall on Wednesday night.  Marshall proved to be just a little better on this night, beating he Mounties 25-17, 25-22.  The Team had 16 kills, 11 assists, 5 aces, 2 blocks, and 15 digs in the contest.  Their record is now 26-6-3.  Their next match will be next Wednesday, October 25th at home when the Mounties host league rival Western in the season finale.

Mounties News · 7th A Volleyball Wins Vandercook Invitational


On Saturday the 7th grade A team persevered through a long day of volleyball and won the Vandercook Lake Invitational. The team served 85% from the line on the day with top servers being Jillian Osterberg with 27 aces and Layne Sleight with 33 aces. The team also had 21 kills on the day, 5 from Alana Compton and 11 from Layne. Other top hitters include Makylee Givens and Teja Kapp who had big swings to help the offense. Braylee Bevier, Hailey Rowley, Meris Lacinski and Leah Hanks played tenacious defense for the team all day. The Lady Mounties remain undefeated with one game left on Thursday against Eaton Rapids at 4:30. Hope to see you there!

Multiple Teams · Freshman Volleyball Advances to Finals of Springport JV Tournament

The Freshman Mounties played in the JV Springport Invitational. During pool play, they went 5-2, which seeded them 2nd overall. The Mounties split with Potterville (21-12, 19-21), defeated Eaton Rapids (21-17, 21-20) and Springport (21-11, 21-20), but lost to Vandercook (18-21, 18-21). In pool play, Abbey Christner recorded 5 aces, 14 digs, and 32 assists. Maddie Neitzke led the team with 7 aces, 31 digs, and 19 kills. Jordan Thomas has 8 kills and 3 blocks. Victoria Craft also led defensively with 25 digs. Raina Cockream was strong behind the service line recording 7 aces.

In the semi-finals, the Mounties battled against Springport and came away with a victory in three games. They lost the first game 24-26, won the second 25-12, after coming back from an 0-8 deficit, and won the third game 15-13. The Mounties faced Vandercook Lake in the finals and lost with scores of 17-25, 20-25. In bracket play, the team recorded 68 digs (Maddie Neitkze 29, Victoria Craft 15), 11 aces (Raina Cockream 6), 31 kills (Maddie Neitkze 12 Ashleigh Black 9 Jordan Thomas 5) and Abbey Christner recorded 22 assists.

Abbey Christner and Maddie Neitzke were named all tournament team. What an awesome, well deserved accomplishment! The Freshman volleyball team is now 20-11-3 and will host Marshall at 5:15pm on Wednesday.

Mounties News · 8th Grade A Volleyball Loses in Championship


The 8th grade A volleyball team competed at the Vandercook Lake tournament on Saturday and placed 2nd losing to a tough Onsted team in the finals. They won three games each against Vandercook and Leslie putting them in first place in their pool. In the semifinals they beat Springport 2 out of 3 advancing them to the finals against Onsted. For the day the team served 88% and leading the way was Chloe Hinkley, Piper Darrow, Leah Alfred and Peach Kennedy. Peach ended the day with 18 aces and 13 kills, Bianca Bush had 12 aces and a block, Olivia Lamb 8 kills, and Alfred had 12 aces and 5 kills. Abbie Sczykutowicz, Kenzie Rowley and Hinkley each had 4 kills. Excellent back row passing by Chloe Cooper, Darrow and Bush. Good playing girls! Our season comes to an end on Thursday when we host Eaton Rapids.

Mounties News · 8th Grade Volleyball Results vs Coldwater


The 8th Grade B team lost all 3 games to Coldwater by the scores of 8-25, 22-25, and 3-15.

The 8th grade A volleyball team lost their match against Coldwater Thursday night losing the first two games but coming back to take the third.  Scores were 17-25, 22-25, and 15-10.  Serving perfect at the line was Leah Alfred and Olivia Lamb.  Sczykutowicz had three kills and Kennedy had two.  Chloe Hinkley set the ball 28 times getting six assists.  We look forward to playing well in the Vandercook Lake tournament on Saturday.

Multiple Teams · Freshman Volleyball Sweeps Olivet & Charlotte in Tri


The Northwest freshman volleyball team hosted Olivet and Charlotte. The Mounties defeated Olivet in 3 games with the scores of 22-25, 25-13, 15-10. The team stats included 13 aces (Maddie Neitzke 4, Raina Cockream 3), 36 digs (Victoria Craft 8, Maddie Neitzke 11), 15 kills (Maddie Neitkze 8, Jordan Thomas 4) 2 block by Jordan Thomas, and 13 assists from Abbey Christner.

The Mounties swept Charlotte in two games with the scores of 25-11, 25-16. Leading the team defensively was Maddie Neitzke with 8 digs and Victoria Craft with 3 digs. Abbey Christner recorded 4 aces and 5 assists. Ashleigh Black lead offensively with 3 kills and 1 block.
The Mounties will be competing Saturday at the JV Springport Tournament.
