Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Varsity Soccer Defeats Chelsea in District Semi Finals

The Varsity soccer team will play for a district championship on Saturday! Congratulations to the team for their great 2-1 win against Chelsea last night. The Mounties were united the entire game and outplayed a strong 13 senior Chelsea team. After being down 1-0 early in the first half, Justin Brownmiller scored after recieving a pass from Ben Woodruff to tie the game. In the second half, Freshman Zack Wohlart scored the go ahead goal off a corner kick from Sean Kusch. However, with over thirty minutes to play, the team needed great defense to secure the win. They got it from Tyler Adams in goal. Tyler had two big saves in the final minutes. Also, Tony Fonseca, Ben Pizano, Chase Bartels, Jake Kampf, Mitch Kops and Ben Woodruff played solid defense. The team will now play Dexter on Saturday at Eaton Rapids. The game will start at 4:00.

Sign Ups for the Winter Sports Season are now in the Athletic Office. Please come and sign up for your respective sport. Remember you will need a physical on file to try out. If you played a sport in the fall, you are all set.  Starting Dates are as follows:

Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Defeats Charlotte 3-1 in Opening Round of Districts

Congratulations to the Varsity soccer team for their 3-1 district win against Charlotte last night. Jon Duchaine scored the first goal early in the half and was assisted by Riley Horsch. However, the team found themselves tied 1-1 at halftime. In the second half, Freshman Zack Wohlart scored a beautiful go ahead goal that was assisted by Justin Brownmiller. Riley Horsch ended the scoring with a penalty kick that was set-up by Dalton Feltman who made a great play to secure the win. Tyler Adams had 4 saves in goal. The Mounties will now play Thursday in the semifinals against Chelsea. The game will be played at Eaton Rapids at 6:30. Go Mounties!

Multiple Teams · Varsity/JV/9th Volleyball lose to Marshall

The volleyball program traveled to Marshall Monday night to take on the Redhawks. The freshman team lost 2-0 to Marshall. The JV team lost to close matches 25-23 and 25-23 to Marshall. The Varsity team lost the first 25-10 and then rebounded to win game two 26-24 and then lost game three 25-19 and lost a tough game four 28-26. They finished the night losing 3-1.

All three return to action Thursday at Northwest vs Charlotte at 5:00pm

Multiple Teams · Varsity Football Loses to Charlotte

The Varsity football team lost to Charlotte Friday 40-15. Leading the Mounties on Offense was quarterback Noah Olmsted with 106 yards passing and 147 yards rushing with 1 touchdown. Connor Piepkow added 35 yards rushing and a touchdown and Rodney Stevenson had 20 yards rushing. Drew Galloway led the receivers with 5 catches for 68 yards and Rodney Stevenson had 3 catches for 41 yards.

This loss drops the Mounties to 3-4 on the season and home games remaining versus Western (2-5) this Friday and Dexter (1-6) the following Friday. Come and support the Mounties as they take on their rival to the west. Kick off starts at 7:00pm. See you there.

Multiple Teams · JV Volleyball Finishes 2nd at Concord Invit.

The JV Volleyball team finished 2nd at the Concord Invit. Saturday out of the 11 teams entered into the tournament. In pool play they went 4-2 defeating Addison 2-0 and splitting with Concord 1-1 and Michigan Center 1-1. This was good enough for a #4 seed heading into Bracket play. In the quarterfinals, the Mounties defeated Union City convincingly 2-0 and then they defeated #1 seed Onsted 2-0 in the Semi finals. In the championship match, the Mounties fell to Clinton 2-0 after a long and hard fought day.

They return to action Monday when they travel to Marshall for a 5:00pm start. On Thursday they host Charlotte at 5:00pm. Congrats on a great day.

Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys soccer defeats Corunna

The Varsity soccer team had a tough los to Jackson High on Monday, but responded with a strong 4-0 win over Corunna last night.  The Mounties played a solid first half against Corunna, but found themselves tied 0-0.  In the second half, Justin Brownmiller started the scoring with a goal that was assisted by Mitch Kops.  Mitch finished with 2 assists for the night.  Also scoring goals were Sean Kusch, Riley Horsch, and Tylar Cooley.  Two other assists were from Dalton Feltman and Sean Kusch.  Tyler Adams recorded his eleventh shut-out of the season and made 4 saves.  Defensively, Tony Fonseca, Chase Bartels, Gregg Fredrickson, Mitch Kops and Jacob Kampf played solid and shut down most of Corunna’s scoring opportunities.  The team improved their overall record to 12-3-4.  Their next game is Tuesday at home against Charlotte in round one of districts.

Girls Varsity Golf · Girls Golf-REGIONAL CHAMPS!!!

The Girls’ Golf Team scored 371 and captured the Division 3 Regional Championship yesterday at Lake Doster Golf Club in Plainwell.  Individually, the Mounties placed 3 girls in the top 5 for the tournament with Kylie Gough tied for 3rd with an 88 and Dori Watts and Allie Lefere tied for 5th with 91.  Megan Rose and Emily Hill carded 101 and 103 respectively. Congratulations Girls!  Good Luck next weekend at the Division 3 State Finals at Grand Valley State University. The Varsity Volleyball team lost to Eaton Rapids Tuesday night 3-0. The scores were 25-16, 25-13, 25-22. The JV Volleyball team lost to Eaton Rapids 2-1, winning the first game 25-19, then losing the next two games 25-17 and 15-7. They both return to action Thursday at Northwest vs Lumen Christi. JV/Freshman start at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:30pm

The Freshman Volleyball finished their sweep of Eaton Rapids this year with a 25-20 & 25-7 victory Tuesday night in Eaton Rapids. Nicole Pier led the Mounties with 7 kills, while Malorie Zonts served 19 points and Nicole Keeder added 11 digs. They return to action Thursday at Northwest vs Lumen Christi at 5:00pm
