Mounties News · 8th Grade Girls Defeat Western On The Road

The 8th graders won a hard fought battle at Western last night 54 – 35 to improve to   5 – 0.  The Mounties trailed 10 – 11 late in the first quarter, and led 25 – 18 at halftime.  They finally got some breathing room by the end of the third quarter as they led 36 – 22.  The game was much closer than the final score might suggest.

Coach’s awards go to Ella Bontrager, Carsyn Sleight, Michaela Caster, and Sami Peters.  Ella and Carsyn played solidly at both ends of the floor.  Ella did an efficient job running the offense while Carsyn grabbed a lot rebounds and was an offensive force around the basket.  Michaela always gets “rewarded” with defending our opponent’s best post player.  She did a very nice job, once again.  Sami played solid interior defense and was also a force on the glass.

They travel to Leslie Wednesday.
