Girls Varsity Volleyball · Varsity Volleyball Wins Districts!

The Mounties did it again. Back to back District Championships!!
The varsity volleyball team from August to now have shown perseverance, resilience, grit, and grace in one of the most difficult times to be an athlete.
The Mounties were supposed to travel to Coldwater for district action but due to Covid they were forced to play at Mason. After two five game battles against Okemos on Wednesday and Mason on Thursday their determination and fight brought them another DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!
Check out the highlights from both matches:
Some of the most notable statistics from the two matches included Henly Sleight’s 60 kills (35 against Mason) and 45 digs, Madison Neitzke’s 11 aces and 53 digs, Layne Sleight’s 97% serving, and Mallory Anspaugh’s 83 assists and 14 kills. Chloe Cooper’s and Mary Crowley’s scrappy defense and Olivia Lamb’s smart front row play were also factors in the wins.
These mask-wearing athletes are fiery, sassy, and unstoppable…and are brining joy to Mountie Nation!!! Next up, the Mounties travel to Battle Creek Lakeview on Tuesday to compete against Portage Central in the semi-final round of regionals. Game time is 5:00 p.m. Whether you are able to attend the game or can view it from home, bring the energy and cheer loud! GO MOUNTIES!
