Girls Varsity Volleyball · Varsity Volleyball 2-0 on Saturday

The Varsity Volleyball team kicked off their 2020 season at Charlotte High School on Saturday with a pair of wins over New Lothrop (25-13, 25-17, 25-17) and Charlotte (25-12, 25-20, 25-15). Having spent the first three weeks of the season practicing outside on the baseball field due to the Covid restrictions, the team only had three days of indoor practice before competition began, however it did not slow them down from showing they were ready to compete!
They swept both teams in three games.
Leading the way for the Mounties in game one against New Lothrop was Layne Sleight with 10 kills and two aces, Henly Sleight with 8 kills and three aces, and Mallory Anspaugh with 26 assists. The team as a whole recorded 38 digs.

The highlight of the day was receiving the nicest compliment from a Charlotte coach who said that our team was so positive and never once complained about having to compete in a mask. We are just happy to be playing and are prepared to not let it hold us back from giving our best!
The Mounties will travel to Marshall High School on Monday night as they open up their first league match of the season. Game times for freshman and JV are 5:15 and Varsity will begin at 6:30. Looking forward to our two spectators per athlete rooting us in the stands and the rest of the community rooting us on in spirit! Go Mounties!
