Effective today (Friday 3/13), starting at 9:00pm through Sunday April 5th there WILL NOT be any practices, activities, scrimmages, games, meetings, etc. with any athletic teams/players. That includes all Spring 2020 teams and any athletes from Fall, Winter or Spring Sports. NO practices, training, etc. at all Northwest facilities and grounds. Please treat this like a MHSAA Dead Period that is completely hands off!!
***NO off-site coach led, organized by coach, captain led, practices or training will be allowed during this time at non Northwest facilities also. In addition, ALL Northwest athletic facilities will be closed during this same time period, including all gyms, fields, weight room, practice areas.
Coaches will treat today’s (Friday, 3/13) practice as an information piece on workouts and ways to keep themselves in shape for the next 3 weeks.
From the announcement last night by Governor Whitmer we now know schools are closed starting Monday 3/16—Sunday 4/5. Certainly, more information will arise during the next three weeks from multiple sources.
This decision is based on the MHSAA’s position, the Governor’s decision to close for three weeks, Northwest Administration, and Jackson County Superintendent’s agreement. The Interstate-8 AD’s have been in communication and support the same process.
If information changes we will continue to use this website to communicate with everyone. This is unprecedented and everyone involved is doing the best they can given the circumstances. As information evolves daily and sometimes by the hour, we will adjust accordingly. This link https://www.mhsaa.com/coronavirus will direct you to the MHSAA website.
Thank you for understanding as we work through these trying times! Go Mounties!!
