The varsity girls basketball team improved to 6-1 on the year with a 59-30 victory over Lumen Christi on Friday. The Mounties jumped out to an early first quarter lead, fueled by 4 three pointers. The Titans stayed within striking distance as the first half closed, trailing 24-14. Northwest was challenged with different goals heading into the second half, and our girls really stepped up. The Mounties outscored the Titans 26-2 in the third, putting the game away. All ten players for Northwest contributed in the victory. Morgan Hanchett led all scorers with 20 points, and added 4 assists. Jozie Bontrager scored 11, and played a great defensive game. Layne Sleight also dropped in 11 points, while Mary Crowley and Teja Kapp added 6 a piece. Northwest travels to Coldwater on Tuesday night for a 7 PM tip.
