The 7th Grade “Black” Team lost their season opener to Lumen Christi 18 -15 Tuesday night.
A slow start by both squads with Lumen leading with a 4-2 score after the first quarter. The game started to pick up with Andrew Harris playing hard nose defense and tallying four first half points followed by Cameron Parker with two and Izaak Green with two. The Mounties went into half time with a 10-8 lead. The third quarter was very much like the first with slow starts by both squad only scoring a combined five points and the Mounties still leading by 3 going into the fourth. In the fourth, the Lumen Christi pressure became too much as Lumen rallied to score eight unanswered points and a final bucket in the waning seconds by Andrew Harris made the final score 18-15. Andrew Harris lead the way with 6 points, Cameron Parker with 4, Jayden Penrod with 3 and Izaak Green with 2.
The 7th Grade Boys’ Basketball “Red” Team lost their first game of the season at home to Lumen Christi 48 – 53.
After falling behind 0 – 12 just a few minutes into the game, the Mounties played very competitively the rest of the way, outscoring their opponent over the last three and a half quarters. The Mounties clawed to within five points several times throughout the game, but could not get any closer. Bright spots included a tenacious press that forced a lot of turnovers and scoring opportunities, tremendous composure, a “refuse to quit” attitude after falling behind 0 – 12, an outstanding effort on the court, and superb sportsmanship. Team members are Kily’An Thomas, Nathan Moyer, Avery Anspaugh, Drew Clingerman, Kam’Ron Thomas, Jalen Jordan, Brody Brafford, Gavin Rush, Tevis Pratt, Hudson Cooper, and Kaedin Lillie. This roster, jam-packed with outstanding young men, will continue to work hard and improve as the season unfolds.
The 7th Gr. Mounties are at HOME again this Thursday (11/7) at 4:30pm against Harper Creek.
