Northwest Mounties 7 Maple Valley 1
Northwest Mounties won big over Maple Valley to open up their wood bat tournament, 7-1. The Mounties put up three runs in the fourth inning, led by Bailey Bostwick and Connor Schefferly, who each had RBI’s in the inning. The bats were on fire, as the Mounties racked up 11 hits in the game. Connor Schefferly, Brandon Bostwick, and Josiah Young all managed multiple hits in the game. Schefferly went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead all Mounties.
The defense played extremely well, as they didn’t commit a single error in the field. Noah Miller had the most chances in the field with 12. The Mounties stole nine bases during the game, as three players stole more than one. Brandon Bostwick led the way with three.
Bayler Keirns earned the win for the Mounties, as he had his best outing of the season. He lasted 5 2/3 innings allowing two hits and one run, while striking out ten. Josiah Young came in to finish the game.
Game 2 – Championship Game
Northwest 10 Melvindale 7
An early lead helped the Northwest Mounties defeat a very good Melvindale baseball team to capture the Maple Valley Wood Bat Tournament Championship. Northwest scored five runs in the first inning when the Mounties were putting the ball in play, along with some errors by Melvindale. Northwest racked up seven hits in the game. Noah Miller and Dakota Hitt all managed multiple hits in the game. Sawyer Epstein, Gibson Wait, and Devin Kalis each singled. Noah Miller collected three RBI’s.
Three freshman pitchers saw action in the game as Ian Weller picked up the win. He allowed five hits and five runs over 4 1/3 innings. Ethan Anspaugh, Josiah Young, and Dakota Hitt came out of the bullpen to help close out the game. Hitt recorded the last three outs to earn the save. All Mountie pitchers did an incredible job on the mound.
