The girls basketball team advanced to the Regional Finals on Monday night with a 68-46 victory over Lansing Catholic. The Mounties (18-4) were determined from the start to control the pace, and got off to a strong start once again. After one quarter, the Northwest lead was 20-7, and the Cougars were not able to recover all night. Morgan Hanchett lead the charge early with 10 first quarter points, while Brooklynne Bevier added 5 in the first stanza. LC made a run in the second quarter, only to be answered by the Mounties, who went into the half up 38-25. The lead was stretched to 56-38 after three, and the Mounties punched their ticket to their second straight Regional Final on Wednesday. Hanchett finished with 22, and continues to put pressure on opposing defenses. Sydney Shafer turned in a solid performance with 18 points and 10 assists. Bevier finished with 11 points, and 4 rebounds. Jozie Bontrager added 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Mounties will face the Haslett Vikings on Wednesday at 7 PM. The game is at Ionia High School.
