Girls Varsity Basketball · Varsity Girls Basketball Loses to St Johns

The varsity girls basketball team lost a hard fought battle with St. Johns on Tuesday night 55 to 45. The Mounties got off to a hot start, lead by Sydney Shafer, who hit four three pointers in the first quarter.  St Johns responded in the second quarter and battled back to take a 26-24 lead into the break.   The Redhawks stretched their lead to six in the third,  but the Mounties weren’t ready to go away yet. They fought back and evened things up midway through the fourth before St. John’s put it away at the free-throw line. Shafer finish the game with 20 points.  Josie Bontrager and Brooklynne Bevier added nine each.
The Mounties fall to 8-3 on the year. Their next game is Friday night at Lumen Christi at 6 PM
