The Northwest Girls’ Golf Team played it first dual match of the season at Mason on Wednesday playing at El Dorado Golf Course. Despite a couple of personal best scores, the Mounties dropped the match by 15 strokes 182-197.
The Mounties were led by Senior, Sydney Shafer carding her personal best nine holes of 44 that included 5 pars. Senior Julia Lefere came in just one stroke back at a 9 over par 45 after starting out with a quad she was just four over on the remaining eight holes. Senior, Macy Jacobs also posted her personal best nine holes carding a 54 that included her first birdie in competition. Rounding out the scoring with a 54 was sophomore, Kara Clingerman. Sophomore, Madelynn Duncan, also posted her best varsity score with 55.
“It was extremely uncomfortable with the heat and humidity today, I just tried to keep them hydrated.” said Coach, Martha Cantlin. “It was good to see that most of the girls were playing their best golf of the season despite the conditions.”
The Mounties are next in action on Friday at the Marshall Invitational and then play host to East Jackson and J-High on Monday in a tri-match.
