The KMS 8th Grade Black Basketball Team improved to 7 – 3 on the season with win at Pennfield 56 – 46. Northwest shot the ball extremely well on the road, with SIX different players nailing three-pointers and 8 of 11 players dressed for game scoring. Coach’s Awards go to Javier Campbell, Damein Milliman, Nolan Ulch, Grant Quinn, and Keegan Vowels, and Anthony Windman. Campbell has played consistently all season. Ulch has shared point guard responsibilities all season and is doing an admirable job as a team leader on the court. Quinn continues to improve every day with a great work ethic and attitude. Vowels can mix things up on the court with the best of them. Windman has played well for both the black and red teams this season.
The KMS 8th Grade Red Basketball Team won their 8th straight game to improve to 8 – 2 on the season by soundly defeating Pennfield on the road, 69 – 43. The Mounties displayed a balanced offensive attack with 5 players scoring at least 8 points. Every player scored. Coach’s Awards go to Carson Cooper, Ashton Golightly, Dylan Leutz, and Ethan Anspaugh. Cooper has some of the best post moves on the team. Golightly can always be counted on to defend one of the opposing teams’ best players when needed. Leutz is a dedicated player who is on the cusp of taking his game to the next level. Anspaugh has a very high basketball IQ and can always be counted on to do his job on the court.
Both teams’ final two games are this Wednesday and Thursday against Harper Creek and Eaton Rapids at Kidder Middle School.
