Multiple Teams · 8th Gr. Boys’ Basketball splits w/ Lumen Christi

The KMS 8th Grade Black Basketball Team opened their season with a 52 – 39 win.  Second year players Keegan Vowels, Koby Castle, Peyton Garner, Landon Rambadt, Javier Campbell, Nolan Ulch, and Brogan Buchler all played exceptionally well and are all MUCH IMPROVED players compared to last year.  First year players, Grant Quinn, Caleb Beyer, Damein Milliman, and Chase Murdock are making huge strides and are already making valuable contributions to the team.  Coach’s awards go to Koby Castle and Landon Rambadt who were tasked with slowing down Christi’s lightning quick point guard.  They did a good enough job to help the Mounties get the win.

The KMS 8th Grade Red Basketball Team never trailed in regulation and led by as many as 10 or 11 points at times.  However, Lumen Christi tied the game with less than two seconds remaining and defeated the Mounties in overtime 54 – 51.  The Mounties led 10 – 5, 23 – 13, and 40 – 30 at the end of each of the first three quarters.  However, KMS was outscored 19 – 9 in the final quarter to send the game into overtime.  Dylan Leutz, Ashton Golightly, Carson Cooper, Ethan Anspaugh, Anthony Windman, Nolen Novak, Joey Young, Ian Weller, and Jermaine Buckner are all also much improved from last season.  Coach’s awards go to Anthony Windman and Ian Weller who helped to get the Mounties off to a fast start and played solidly at both ends of the floor.
