The Lady Mounties Varsity Volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a heartbreaking loss to league foe Parma Western on Wednesday night in another five game face-off. They came out strong winning the first two games 25-22, 25-22 but then just couldn’t keep the momentum for the next three games falling 24-26, 16-25, and 11-25. They were even down 10 points in the third match and brought it back to 18–18 behind Meg Moffitt’s serving.
The Mountie defense was spectacular with a team total 122 digs and 14 blocks. The Mounties just couldn’t seem to get it going offensively committing 28 errors. Brooklynne Bevier, Henly Sleight, and Carsyn Sleight each had 13 kills on the night. Mallory Anspaugh handled the ball 216 times with 55 assists.
Both teams had stellar serving with the Mounties only missing four serves in the five game match.
Despite the loss, the Mounties were able to honor their seniors in a pre and post game celebration. They capped off the night watching a video presentation of their time together over the last six years. It was a very special evening.
The Mounties, 26-9-4, will be back in action on Saturday for the I-8 Tournament. Come on out and watch some great volleyball!
