Northwest Golfers Post Second Straight 336 at the Regional, Place 3rd and Qualify for the State Tournament
The Golf Team posted a 336 at Bedford Valley Golf Club on Wednesday placing 3rd at the Division 2 Regional and becoming the first State Qualifying Boys team from Northwest in more than 17 years.
Senior, Austin Richmond, led the Mounties firing an 80 and placing 6th individually. Junior, Sam Hibbs, posted a new personal best score with 82 while Senior, Jared Foote also posted his personal best round with an 85. Junior, Kaden Grimes and freshman, Logan Hilder, came in with an 89 and 94 respectively to round out the scores for the Mounties.
“We knew that we had the potential to be in the mix for a top third finish of the 18 teams, but with such a strong field, we knew finishing as a State Qualifier would take our best team score and that’s what we got,” said Coach Martha Cantlin. “I am so happy for the kids, especially the seniors. They dared to dream of it, and worked hard to make it happen despite some adversity during the season. It’s very exciting, and we all look forward to representing Mountie Nation at States.”
The Mounties compete in the Division 2 State Finals next week on Friday and Saturday at The Meadows Golf Club at Grand Valley State University.
