Lakewood 9 – Northwest 1
Northwest jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on Lakewood on a Brad Campbell single. The Mounties loaded the bases with 1 out, but could not get the big hit to put more runs on the board. The top of the second was a mirror image of the 1st inning for the Mounties as they loaded the bases again with 1 out, but could not come away with more runs. Lakewood recorded four hits in the bottom of the 2nd inning with 2 outs to tally 3 runs and take the lead 3-1. The Mounties could not regain confidence as they stranded 9 base runners in the game. Lakewood was able to bring a run across in each of the remaining innings to take the game with a 9-1 victory. Nic Weller and Campbell both recorded a single in the game.
Northwest 24 – Fordson 0
Jordan Cooper tosses no-hitter in victory over Fordson. Cooper improves to 5-0 on the season in while striking out 4 in the contest. Northwest was able to take a 2-0 lead over Fordson in the 1st inning before exploding with 22 runs in the second inning to take the victory in 3 innings over Fordson. Logan Everett’s Grand Slam early in the 2nd inning opened the floodgates for the Mounties. Everett finished the game 4-4 with 7 RBI’s. Northwest recorded 16 hits in the contest as Glenn Miller, Logan Young, Gibson Wait and Bryce Darrow each collected two hits. Maples had 4 RBI’s while Miller and Wait collected 3 RBI’s.
Northwest will host Western on Tuesday in an I-8 conference match-up.
