Varsity Girls Basketball Defeats Hastings

The Varsity girls basketball team improved to 5-3 on the year with a 47-36 victory over Hastings on Tuesday night.  After a slow start, the Mounties made a run to close out the first quarter up 14-10.  Northwest continued to hit shots in the second quarter, but Hastings kept within striking distance.
After giving up five 3 pointers in the first half, the Mounties put together a great defensive effort in the second half, and secured the conference road win.  8 players scored for Northwest.  Sydney Shafer led the Mounties with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Michaela Caster continued to shoot the ball well and dropped in 9 points.  Brooklynne Bevier played well at both ends of the floor and finished with 8 points.  Carsyn Sleight added 7 points and solid defense, while Morgan Hanchett scored 5 and Ella Bontrager 4. Nicole Keeder and Taryn Hendershot added 2 each.
The Mounties host Marshall on Friday at 6 PM. you support will be greatly appreciated on Friday!
